Latvijas Banka and its partners invite everyone to participate in the Financial Literacy Week 2022 from 21 to 27 March to improve his/her money skills, financial security and sustainability. Non-governmental organisations, public authorities and businesses will organise a broad range of different free-of-charge activities during the week, inviting those who want to enhance their money skills to engage in the relevant activities.

Gradually paving the way for the merger of Latvijas Banka and the Financial and Capital Market Commission (FCMC), Latvijas Banka became the national coordinator for financial literacy issues in Latvia on 1 January 2022, and this is the first time it organises and coordinates the Financial Literacy Week.

During the Financial Literacy Week, more than 15 institutions will offer online and in-person events as well as information materials for young people, adults and the elderly. Everybody will enjoy an opportunity to learn more about subjects like investment, personal finance planning, building up wealth, saving for retirement and the detection of counterfeits. The issues to be discussed are: 1) the opportunities offered by financial technologies to enhance money skills; and 2) future work. Participants of the Financial Literacy Week will have the possibility to forecast their remuneration, find out what their financial IQ is, but young people in particular are invited to participate in the five-day financial literacy challenge.

Likewise, the events include a seminar for teachers, publication of a teaching aid in economics for pre-school age children and a teaching material about insurance. Various initiatives will offer both schoolchildren and adults a chance to learn the first steps in business. On its 100th anniversary, to highlight the significant role financial literacy plays in lives of each individual and the public at large, Latvijas Banka will issue a 2 euro commemorative coin dedicated to financial literacy during the Financial Literacy Week 2022.

Please familiarise yourself with the calendar of events available on the financial literacy website. Live coverages and materials will be available on the Facebook site "Financial literacy".

It is the ninth time that the Financial Literacy Week takes place in Latvia within the framework of the international initiative Global Money Week. The annual Financial Literacy Week in Latvia is coordinated by Latvijas Banka, which implements activities in conjunction with the Finance Latvia Association, Consumer Rights Protection Centre, FCMC, State Social Insurance Agency, Latvian Insurers Association, Swedbank AS, SIA TAVEX, AS DelfinGroup, AS Attīstības finanšu institūcija Altum, Latvian Financial Education Association, association Global Shapers Community – Riga FinLit project, association Junior Achievement Latvia, BA School of Business and Finance, Riga Technical University, University of Economics and Culture, as well as other educational institutions and partners.
