Obverse
A panoramic view of the River Daugava and a stylized oak-leaf, which is a see-through register, are superimposed on an ornamented background. The banknote issued in 2008 has two relief inscriptions of the nominal value 10 imprinted above the oak-leaf. Across the top of the banknote, there is the inscription LATVIJAS BANKAS NAUDAS ZIME (banknote of the Bank of Latvia) with the serial number in red underneath. Across the bottom of the banknote, there are the inscriptions DESMIT LATU (ten lats), in bicolour print and LATVIJAS BANKA (Bank of Latvia), the facsimile signature of the Governor of the Bank of Latvia, and the serial number in black.

On the right side of the banknote, there is a vertical ornamental band composed of a motif of the traditional Lielvarde belt and topped by the numeral 10. In the upper left of the banknote, there are two maroon dots in relief (Braille) that are arranged vertically on a white, watermarked background. Beneath the watermark, the numeral 10 is superimposed on a horizontal band in a blend of colours.

On the 2008 banknote, the numeral 10 has been printed with a special paint creating a colour-changing optical effect when the banknote is tilted.

The horizontal band of the 10-lats banknote issued in 2000 and 2008 incorporates fine horizontal lines and a vertical band in relief with the numeral '10' repeated four times in different colours.

Reverse
A representation of the traditional Latvian bronze bow-broach is superimposed on a motif of the broach's elements. A vertical metallic band is worked into the paper to the left of the broach, and a stylized oak-leaf (a see-through register) is on the right (the 10-lats banknote issued in 2000 incorporates a broader metallic holographic band with the lettering 'Ls 10'). Across the top of the banknote, there is an inscription DESMIT LATU (ten lats) and the numeral 10. The numeral 10 and a bicolour inscription LATVIJAS BANKAS NAUDAS ZIME (banknote of the Bank of Latvia) are at the bottom. A vertical band with diagonal stripes that blend into one another is to the left of the broach motif.

Along the edge of the band, there is an inscription © LATVIJAS BANKA 1992 (© Bank of Latvia 1992) on a white background.

A design of the large coat of arms of the Republic of Latvia, with the year 1992, 2000 or 2008 inscribed underneath, is depicted on white background in the right lower corner of the banknote. Above the coat of arms, there is a watermark.
