Zita Zariņa

Member of the Council

On 5 March 2020, the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia appointed Zita Zariņa Member of the Council of Latvijas Banka for a term of five years, which commenced on 15 April 2020 and will end on 14 April 2025. On 6 March 2025, the Saeima re-elected Zita Zariņa Member of the Council of Latvijas Banka for a second five-year term, which will end on 14 April 2030.

Zita Zariņa was born on 5 September 1974.

Zita Zariņa has graduated from Clinton Community College (USA), she has been a student of the Bachelor Programme in Business and Economics at the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga and has obtained a Bachelor of Social Sciences Degree in Economics and a Master of Social Sciences Degree in European Studies from the Faculty of Economics and Management (currently, Faculty of Business, Management and Economics) of the University of Latvia

From 2000 to 2005, Zita Zariņa was Phare Task Manager at the European Commission Representation in Latvia, whereas from 2005 to 2007 she was Financial Manager at DG Enlargement of the European Commission. She was Director of the Special Programme Projects Department (2007–2011) and Director of Public Administration and Special Programme Projects Department of the Central Finance and Contracting Agency, Deputy Director of the Central Finance and Contracting Agency for strategy issues and Director of Programme Management and Monitoring Department (2013–2015). On 17 December 2015, the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia appointed Zita Zariņa Member of the Council of the State Audit Office for a term of four years and, on 21 December 2019, appointed her for the second term. While working at the State Audit Office, she was Director of the Audit and Methodology Department.
