Data and Statistics Department

Tasks

Department ensures the statistics function (i.e. collecting and processing statistical data, developing, compiling, analysing and disseminating statistical information), the operation of the Credit Register, data governance and data science projects.

Structure of the department

Credit Register and Securities Division

• ensures the operation of the Credit Register
• compiles securities and AnaCredit statistics

Data Collection and Processing Division

• collects and processes statistical data and ensures their quality at the level of individual data
• manages electronic submission of data
• maintains and disseminates information on economic agents for statistical purposes
• supervises infringements of Latvijas Banka's regulatory requirements for compiling and submitting statistical data

Statistics Development Division

• introduces new requirements or improves the existing ones
• organises the provision of household finance and consumption statistics, government finance and economic statistics
• provides indirectly identifiable statistical data for research purposes and supervises infringements in respect of indirectly identifiable statistical data provided for research purposes
• introduces the core principles of ensuring the statistics of the European System of Central Banks and coordinates the compliance with them
• coordinates the provision and improvement of the International Monetary Fund data dissemination standards in the Republic of Latvia

Statistics Compilation Division

• compiles statistics and ensures their quality
• disseminates statistical information

Data Governance Centre

• establishes and implements Latvijas Banka's data strategy, including integration of data governance principles and policies into Latvijas Banka's day-to-day work and provides support to employees with regard to data accessibility and data governance issues
• implements data science projects and provides support to employees with regard to advanced data processing
