On 9 June 2022, the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia appointed Ilze Posuma Member of the Council of Latvijas Banka. Her term of office started on 2 July 2022.
Ilze Posuma has been working at Latvijas Banka since 2005. Until 2022, Ilze Posuma was the Head of the Legal Department and represented Latvijas Banka on the Legal Committee of the European System of Central Banks. She was a Member of the Board of Latvijas Banka from 2007 and served as Deputy Chairperson of the Board from 2014 to 2021.
Ilze Posuma represents Latvia in the Single Resolution Board.
She has a versatile academic background, holding a Master of Social Sciences degree in Law from the University of Latvia, a Professional Master's degree in Business Administration and Professional Qualification of a Manager of Businesses and Organisations from Riga Stradiņš University, and a Professional Master’s degree in Cybersecurity Management from the BA School of Business and Finance. Ilze Posuma has also studied at the University of Oxford under the European and Comparative Law Programme.
Prior to her employment with Latvijas Banka, from 2001 to 2005, she worked at Latvian credit institutions, holding positions related to law. At the same time, from 2001 to 2004, Ilze Posuma delivered lectures at the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia. She currently serves as a guest lecturer at the same faculty.
