• Securities totalling 196.8 million euro were purchased under the PSPP in October

    In October 2017, implementing the public sector purchase programme (PSPP), Latvijas Banka purchased securities issued by the Latvian government and international organisations located in the euro area amounting to 196.8 million euro. Overall, Latvijas Banka has purchased securities totaling 6 411.3 million euro under the PSPP, including securities in the amount of 1 808.4 million euro in 2015 and 2 548.9 million euro in 2016.

  • Lending of Latvijas Banka holdings purchased under the PSPP

    The securities purchased under the Public Sector Purchase Programme (PSPP) should be made available for lending in a decentralised manner. The aim of securities lending is to support bond and repo market liquidity without disrupting normal repo market activity.

    Latvijas Banka makes its holdings in the PSPP available for securities lending by participating in the strategic lending facility (ASLplus) and Automated Securities Lending (ASL) programme of Clearstream Banking Luxembourg (CBL) for purposes of mitigating settlement fails.

    Currently Latvijas Banka makes the following bonds, which were bought under the PSPP, available for securities lending via the ASLplus and ASL programme of CBL

  • Securities totalling 195.8 million euro were purchased under the PSPP in September
  • Securities totalling 157.9 million euro were purchased under the PSPP in August
  • Securities totalling 194.8 million euro were purchased under the PSPP in July
  • Securities totalling 200.7 million euro were purchased under the PSPP in June
  • Securities totalling 189.7 million euro were purchased under the PSPP in May
  • Securities totalling 200.4 million euro were purchased under the PSPP in April
  • Securities totalling 251.5 million euro were purchased under the PSPP in March
  • Securities totalling 237.1 million euro were purchased under the PSPP in February
