Ilmārs Rimšēvičs, Governor of Latvijas Banka, and Michel Sapin, Finance Minister of France, met today in Riga.

In a friendly atmosphere, Mr. Rimšēvičs and Mr. Sapin discussed important problems related to economic developments in the euro area and exchanged opinions about Latvia's economic situation and France's achievements towards enhanced competitiveness and fiscal sustainability.

The parties also focused on the issues related to the monetary policy measures of the Eurosystem.

During his one day stay in Riga Mr. Sapin is scheduled to meet with a number of Latvian officials.
