Introduction
To inform the general public about the implementation of its policies and development of monetary and economic indicators, the Bank of Latvia regularly prepares a number of publications, of which the most significant are the Bank's Annual Reports, the quarterlies Monetarais Apskats. Monetary Review and Latvijas Maksajumu Bilance. Latvia's Balance of Payments, the monthlies Monetary Bulletin and Latvia's Balance of Payments (Principal Items), and the newspaper Averss un Reverss.
The Bank's Internet site contains also other publications dealing with various central banking areas. The Bank has published the Oversight of the Payment System in Latvia. Likewise, publications Measuring Output GAP in Latvia; Transmission of Monetary Shocks in Latvia; Financial Market in Latvia; Real Exchange Rate in Latvia (1994-2001) and Price Dynamics in Latvia: Experience and Future Prospects are available on the Bank's Internet site.
The booklet Questions Frequently Asked to the Bank of Latvia is addressed to the general public. This site also contains information about a variety of other publications, including the unique book Banknotes and Coins in Latvia published by the Bank of Latvia. Written by Dr. hist. Kristine Ducmane, numismatist, and Evalds Vecins, economist, this work is a rich source of illustrative material.
