Requesting data existing in the Credit Register
The Payment System Department of the Bank of Latvia maintains the Credit Register and provides Credit Register data.
Credit Register data can be obtained by:
- Credit Register participants
Credit Register participants (banks providing financial services associated with credit risks, branches of foreign banks, companies having close links with the bank and providing financial services associated with credit risks, insurers and credit unions) are entitled to receive data existing in the Credit Register on:- their borrowers and borrower guarantors;
- natural and legal persons who have submitted an application in writing to the participant for concluding a loan agreement or have agreed in writing to be borrower guarantors.
- other natural and legal persons pursuant to Subparagraphs 4-7 of Paragraph 169 of the Regulation for the Credit Register.
- The Financial and Capital Market Commission
- Any natural and legal person
Natural and legal persons are entitled to receive data existing in the Credit Register only pertaining to themselves, as well as Credit Register participants' data requests pertaining to them.
To receive Credit Register data, the person has to arrive at the Credit Register in person.
- A natural person shall submit a request
in writing and present a passport.
The custodian of a natural person shall submit a request in writing and present a passport and a decision of the custody court on the custodian's appointment.
An authorised representative of a natural person shall submit a request in writing and present a passport and a letter of attorney, certified by a notary, regarding the right to receive the Credit Register data. - A representative of a legal person
shall submit a request in writing and present a passport and a document
certifying the person's right to represent the legal person without a
special authorization;

The Bank of Latvia shall provide the Credit Register data to a person within five business days after receiving a request to that effect. This service is free of charge.
