Financial Information

To implement the Bank of Latvia's monetary policy and to maintain the bank liquidity, the Bank of Latvia is offering the financial market participants the below listed monetary policy and foreign exchange operations:

  • the tenders of refinancing operations;
  • foreign exchange swaps;
  • tenders of outright purchase and sale of securities;
  • fixed-term deposit tenders;
  • marginal lending facility;
  • deposit facility;
  • buying and selling of foreign currency (euro).

A bank registered in the Republic of Latvia, or a branch of a European Union or European Economic Area or a foreign bank registered in the Republic of Latvia may participate in the above Bank of Latvia's operations, provided they are holding a cash account for settlements in lats with the Bank of Latvia and, if they are getting involved in the collateralised operations, are participating in the securities settlement system organised by the Bank of Latvia (hereinafter, VNS).

To become an eligible participant in the Bank of Latvia's monetary operations, pursuant to the provisions of Regulation for the Use of the Bank of Latvia's Monetary Policy Instruments, one has to sign an agreement On Participation in the Monetary Policy Operations of the Bank of Latvia.

To become an eligible participant in VNS, pursuant to the provisions of Regulation for the Securities Settlement System of the Bank of Latvia, one has to sign an agreement On Participation in the Securities Settlement System of the Bank of Latvia.
